ProQ Charcoal Chimney Starter - Stainless Steel

UAE BBQ enthusiasts use a charcoal chimney starter rather than lighter fluid because lighter fluid leaves a chemical residue that imparts off-flavours to UAE BBQ food — particularly noticeable in delicate foods and during low-and-slow UAE smoking where the charcoal fire burns for many hours. The ProQ chimney starter uses natural newspaper or fire lighters beneath the charcoal basket to light from below, creating an updraft that lights a full batch of charcoal evenly in 15-20 minutes without any chemical additions. For UAE BBQ smoking where clean charcoal flavour matters, chimney starting is the standard technique.

Yes — the ProQ chimney starter can be used safely on UAE desert camping flat surfaces including sand by placing it on a stable non-flammable base (a concrete paving block, the ProQ smoker base, or a flat stone). UAE desert campers who light their ProQ Ranger or Frontier at Al Qudra, Wahiba Sands, or Hatta camping spots use the ProQ chimney starter for fast, clean charcoal lighting without requiring any permanent infrastructure. Once lit, the charcoal is carefully poured directly into the ProQ smoker's charcoal basket.
