Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Hori Hori knife used for?
The Hori Hori (Japanese: "dig dig") is a versatile soil knife that functions as a trowel, weeder, divider, and cutting tool simultaneously. Its serrated edge cuts through roots and sod; its straight edge slices cleanly; its pointed tip drives through compacted UAE soil and breaks open planting furrows; its depth markings help you plant bulbs and seedlings at the correct depth every time.
What is the difference between the Hori Hori Ultimate and the Hori Hori Classic?
The Ultimate version features an upgraded blade steel that holds a sharper edge longer and resists corrosion better — ideal for UAE gardeners who use their Hori Hori daily. The handle is also upgraded for improved grip and comfort during extended sessions. If you're a serious gardener who uses tools hard, the Ultimate is worth the investment.
Can I use the Hori Hori Ultimate in UAE clay or compacted soils?
Yes — the Hori Hori Ultimate is specifically designed for driving through tough soils. In UAE conditions, where soils can be compacted, gravelly, or clay-heavy, the heavy steel blade and sharp point give you the leverage and strength to work the soil without damaging the tool.
